My name is Julia and as part of my third year studies at the University of Strathclyde, we have been given the task to create a blog about something we have a great interest in :)

I love travelling and seeing new places, however as a child I didn't have the privilege of going abroad much, instead my family and I visited places in the Uk.

Due to this, I have decided to make this blog about the hidden gems we have found over the years! 

I can ensure you the Uk is full of beauty and surprises <3

The Isle of Skye

  The Isle of Skye   When it comes to hidden Gems within the UK, its hard not to consider Skye up there with its golden beaches, crystal clear fair pools and famous landmarks such as Neist point. Skye creates a magical experience with its famous fairy pools, one of my favourite places to visit.  On arrival there is a small but limited car park for guests. The 15m walk can be challenging weather permitting, however the reward out weights the small trek! I would bring suitable shoes; it is Scotland after all. The fairy pools are covered by the Black Cuillins which seem to tower over you while walking, giving you some spectacular views. The gravel path ends and expands open with the clearest of waters known as the fairy pools. During my trip, I was unable to swim in them which was slightly disappointing considering I’ve heard some great reviews. What's the Story of Balamory?

Isle of Mull - Tobermory  Situated on the Isle of Mull lays the famous town Tobermory, or likely mistaken for 'Balamory' due to the popular childrens tv show we all happened to love. I watched this as a child at nursery and fell in love with it, so it was a surreal experience visiting here years later. The people here were beyond lovely and welcoming and introduced me to the local pub called 'Mishnish' (the yellow house you can see in the picture above). This pub offered fresh sea food options along with your classic pub food. The vibe was overall so cosy with multiple fireplaces and music. It also happened to be an old firm day the day I visited and as you can imagine, the pub was bouncing, making the day a whole lot more fun. There are also multiple boat rides available to see the seals, dolphins and beautiful beaches and coasts. The Beauty of Cornwall

Carbis Bay & St Ives  As you may know, Cornwall is a huge place full of natural beauty and stunning white sand beaches. My personal favourite beach would be Carbis Bay beach, a short walk from the well-known St Ives harbour.  Carbis Bay Beach This beach is suitable for all ages as it has plenty of space for everyone, with its beautiful white sand and clear blue waters. It offers a selection of water sports such as kayaking, jet skiing and surfing along with lessons for beginners! There is also parking facilities at this beach, meaning if you are staying elsewhere in Cornwall, you can easily park and visit. Ice cream at this beach is also Cornwalls absolute finest however, keep an eye out for the seagulls as they are lethal, stealing any food they lay their eyes on. Dining After your relaxed day at Carbis bay beach, I would highly recommend anyone to visit St Ives Harbour for a bite to eat.
